OVERVIEW
The Canadian Centre for Fisheries Innovation (CCFI) supports research and development that enhances the sustainability, safety and profitability of Canada’s seafood industry.
Since 1989, CCFI has supported hundreds of industry-related projects that have solved industry challenges by actively promoting research and development in the aquaculture, harvesting sector, and fish processing sectors. These projects often involve collaboration with both the human resources and facilities assets of the Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University, other Canadian and international academic and research institutions, gear manufacturers, ocean tech and artificial intelligence organizations, and other leaders in the innovation space.
CCFI facilitates access to scientific and technological expertise and facilities, resulting in projects that answer and/or address industry questions and work toward the adoption of new scientific data, technologies, and product developments.
OUR TEAM
Our staff is comprised of our Managing Director, who leads all operations, engages on industry priorities and requirements, collaborates with stakeholders, and provides oversight to research; as well as an Industry Liaison Officer and an Office Manager, who support partners in projects.
WHAT WE DO
CCFI is a conduit between industry players, academic expertise, and innovation funding supports that creates knowledge through research projects and serves as a national store of information regarding best practice for safety, sustainability, and profitability.
